Beaver Creek Watershed

"Bird Feeder Frenzy" BIRD COUNT

Beaver Creek Watershed Association members and friends have recently begun a “Bird Feeder Frenzy” count. The purpose of this effort is to gauge the diversity of the local bird population in our watershed and to use this data which we hope to collect from year to year as a barometer of the impacts of our changing land uses. Data is being collected during November and December.

If you currently are not participating but would like to do so, it is not too late! Simply e-mail Ruth Anne at rhanahan@utk.edu for protocol directions and to get a copy of the data sheet. The approach is set up for amateur birders so don’t be shy about participating if you don’t know every bird in the Audubon guide.

For those of you participating, you can send your results back to us in two ways. First, you can send the data sheets through the mail to: Dr. Bob Collier, 326 Granville Conner Road, Powell TN. 37849. Second, you can e-mail your results to: webmaster@beavercreekwatershed.org. You can either attach the completed data sheets or simply include the data within your e-mail message, listing the information from your tally sheets. No need to format this information, just include dates, weather, bird species and numbers. Happy birding!
